Membership and Volunteering

Ways to be involved…

By becoming a volunteer and working with and for teachers and students in our school district - you can make a meaningful contribution to our community. We have a variety of programs for volunteers of all levels, from inexperienced to professional.

There are a number of ways you can join us in the effort to make a difference in a child’s educational experience.

Become a Supporter of Our Teachers

We award an average of $100,000 in grants each year to teachers.  This support is from our community, local businesses, and individuals who believe these grants can make a difference in public education.  You can be a supporter by personally donating every year, contacting us if your employer may be interested, and spreading the word!  All donations are tax deductible.

Volunteer

We have volunteer opportunities all year long: fundraising, processing/evaluating teacher grant applications, and organizing our events. In October, we partner with NMUSD at our State of the School Breakfast to update the community on District goals/programs. In January, we gear up to publicize and solicit teacher grant applications. In February, we form our reader groups to read and evaluate the grants. In May, we present the grants awards and honor the Newport-Mesa Federation of Teachers "Teachers of the Year" at our Teacher Grant Banquet. As you can see, we appreciate and need our volunteers to accomplish this important work. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form using the "Sign up to Volunteer" button along with your specific area of interest. We will contact you with much appreciation!
